Bad Boy Kitchen: Skrewball Peanut Butter Whiskey Sour

A few days ago, Travis discovered a shoe box stuffed in a cabinet in my friend Shelby’s house called Shame Box. If you know Travis, you know he can’t say no to food. The box was filled with half eaten bags of stale chips, cookies, gummy bear packets, airline snack packages and more. He rifled through the box, taste testing its contents. Though the whole ordeal infuriated me (um, this is not your house, and um, I don’t want to hear about your stomachache later), one good thing came of the ordeal. In typical Travis fashion, he mistakenly referred to his find as the “Bad Boy Box.”

A few days later, Shelby and I mulled over ideas for creating a new cocktail recipe for a bottle I had just been given by Skrewball Peanut Butter Whiskey, while Travis ate stale chocolate covered pretzels from his newly dubbed Bad Boy Box. The cocktail we wanted to create needed to be a little out of the ordinary, just like the peanut butter flavored whiskey itself. That’s when we realized that there’s a name for when you feel like being a little controversial, and so the Bad Boy Kitchen series was born.

My first induction into the Bad Boy Kitchen series is the Skrewball Peanut Butter Whiskey Sour, a cocktail that may sound slightly strange, but proves delicious once it hits the lips.  Check out the recipe below:

Peanut Butter Whiskey Sour

Ingredients:

  • 1 oz Skrewball Whiskey

  • 1 oz Bourbon (such as Maker’s Mark)

  • 3 drops Angostura Bitters

  • 1 egg white

  • ¾ oz fresh lemon juice

  • ¾ oz maple syrup (can skip if you don't like the sweetness as there’s enough in the peanut butter whiskey)

Directions:

  1. Pour all ingredients into a shaker with ice.

  2. Shake vigorously, until a foamy consistency is achieved.

  3. Pour into a glass. Top with freshly grated lemon zest and garnish with a lemon twist.
