The more I wrote, the more I found my niche in travel and lifestyle — extensions of the life I live and the interests that fulfill me. 

Luxury is at the backbone of my writing when and where it can be. Luxury travel. Luxury wellness. Luxury beauty. At home, this translates to quality home furnishings, appliances, linens and more. I love reviewing and featuring brands that fit within this niche. And yet, I strive to find a good sale or an underrated product that’s well-priced. 

Living by Lex is a blog and a photographic diary of my life traveling the globe in search of the best lodging, food and drink, remote islands, bustling cities, airlines and other modes of transportation, as well as life at home, which is equally as important to me.

Why I Started Living by Lex

There’s a video of me at about 10 years old. My father is behind the camera asking me what I want to be when I grow up. I proudly answer, “I want to be a freelance writer.”

The funny thing is, I didn’t even know what the word “freelance” was at the time. 

Fast forward 20 years: through boarding school, a Bachelor’s degree in creative writing and journalism, working pro bono for various magazines and publications, and then landing a job as the sole print editor for a lifestyle magazine in Southern California. I’ve come full circle to what that little girl thought she wanted, writing for well-known magazines and online publications consistently.
